questions that may be frequently asked...
what will they be talking about? the theme is
"look to the mountain". since participants will be looking at mt. meeker
all week as it stands strong on the highlands horizon at 13, 911 feet, our
keynoters and small groups will use biblical images of mountain scenes to draw
us closer to God.
how many people will be there? youth re-creation is a conference oriented event that combines the awesomeness of large group worship and dynamic keynote speakers with a small group feel. youth re-creation is specifically designed to encourage participants to be able to physically interact with the keynote leadership. specifically, we anticipate about 180 participants. we can house a dozen more or so. who will be the speakers? rev. j. herbert nelson, and the rev. gayle parker. Their bios are located at www.youthre-creation.org/leadership.htm
$399/participant - for those souls looking to stay in the newly constructed retreat center. This motel-style facility has 24 rooms with single beds. each room is uniquely constructed (which add to the charm!), but each room will hold approximately 4 - 6 people in single beds and pull-out sleeper sofas. each room has it's own private bath, which adds to the comfort. check out the highlands website for more information on lodging options (www.highlandscamp.org) $349/participant - an economical choice, and fun one at that. this price structure will have you sleeping in our rocky mountain cabins. each cabin is uniquely built, and will sleep between 10 - 20 people each in bunk beds. the cabins are a great way to build community with your group, since you won't be splitting them up in separate rooms. check out the highlands website for more information on lodging options (www.highlandscamp.org) do we need chaperones? of course! highlands will require a chaperone ratio of 1 adult to 10 youth of the same gender. however, if your church group is struggling to find enough chaperones, highlands camp and retreat center can utilize some of their carefully selected and highly trained counselors to fill this gap. call highlands if you think you may need another chaperone or two - they will be glad to help you out. what will the schedule look like? It's a little too early to be specific, but the schedule will involve worship, time for small groups, free time, recreation and keynote sessions. how do i get to youth re-creation? highlands presbyterian camp and retreat center, which is hosting the conference, is located about an hour and 15 minutes from DIA and downtown denver. we will be posting specific travel directions as the event draws closer.
